The Central Electoral Bureau ceases its activity on May 24, at 11:59 p.m.
The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) issued a decision on Thursday regarding the cessation of its activity for the election of the President of Romania. It will cease its activity on May 24, at 11:59 p.m.
According to the document, the Central Electoral Bureau immediately ceases to ensure relations with the public.
"''Communications received by the Central Electoral Bureau after the moment of the public announcement made by the Constitutional Court of Romania regarding the validation of the election result for the elected president shall not be taken into account and shall not be recorded. Until the moment of cessation of activity, (...) the Central Electoral Bureau shall resolve the information, requests, notifications, complaints, objections and appeals received until the moment of the public announcement made by the Constitutional Court of Romania regarding the validation of the election result for the elected president," the decision states.
At the same time, the County Electoral Bureaus, the Electoral Bureaus of the sectors of Bucharest municipality, the Electoral Bureau No. 48 for polling stations abroad, the Electoral Bureau for postal voting No. 1 and the Electoral Bureaus of polling stations in the country and abroad will cease their activity on May 24, at 11:59 p.m.
The Constitutional Court of Romania validated the results of the presidential elections on Thursday. The CCR's decision was published in the Official Gazette.
The elected President, Nicusor Dan, is scheduled to take the oath of office on Monday, in the plenary session of Parliament.
